Baptism of Repentance

We’re going to look at the ministry of John the Baptist; and more specifically, we’re going to look at the baptism John offered as the precursor to the baptism that Jesus offers.

There are several things that I want you to understand over the next couple of weeks, but none is more important than this … that the Bible speaks of John’s baptism separately from being baptized in Jesus name, and that both of those are separate experiences to being baptized or filled with the Holy Spirit. The bottom line with this study on John’s baptism is that we must understand that the act of repentance (a change of outward lifestyle) is a vital component in the act of water baptism and the work of salvation in general. And with that understanding, we can then realize that the baptism of the Holy Spirit requires the act of repentance first.
